6. RADIUS Server Configuration

To use a Windows Server 2008 R2 in RADIUS authentication, two roles must be installed:

“Active Directory Domain Services” and “Network Policy Server”. Additionally, a RADIUS

client, connection policies, and user accounts must be configured on the server.

6.1 Installing Active Directory Domain Services

Active Directory Domain Services provides the user database, which is used to authenticate

users. It is possible for this to be installed on another server in the network. However, for

the purposes of this implementation guide, a single server was used. The procedure below

installs Active Directory Domain Services and establishes the Server as a Domain

Controller for the “extreme.wireless.com” domain.

1) Open the Server Manager:
